Joylene Wilson-MacBurnie

I started to write this book as a journey of exploration, a shaking of old skeletons if you will. I wanted to show myself my life isn't as bad as I thought. At first I was depressed at the life I lead, since I had no real job at the time. Now I take a look at the book and say my life was interesting. I wrote it from the heart and I now hope it touches you.

I grew up in a time where most severely disabled children were segrated from the rest of the children.  I was classed as severely deaf and should be treated as such. I am totally deaf, but I speak fine and I use the telephone and my favorite music is country.  I grew up in Port Coquitlam ,B.C. Canada. I went to three different schools, Terry Fox Sr Sec. , George Perkes Jr Sec. and Viscount Alexander Elementary and Birchland Elementary.

This is in fact my grad photo, taken in 1993. I was a sweet innocent kid (at least thats what everybody thought.)  I don't ask of much in this world other than be alowed to be treated as a normal person. I do the best I can with what I have and I don't ask to be treated in a special way, just have patience with me.
